ICMSV and SoundLoom present an intimate recital of Hindustani vocal music with well-established performer, scholar, and guru Omkar Dadarkar. Hailing from a family of Marathi Natyasangeet performers, Omkar underwent further training with with Dr. Ram Deshpande, his aunt Vidushi Manik Verma, and Pandit Yeshwantbua Joshi. He was selected as a scholar at the prestigious ITC Sangeet Research Academy in 1999 where he received advanced training under the guidance of Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar. Through Vidushi Girija Devi and Shri Shrinivas Khale, Omkar studied the nuances of various semi-classical musical forms. Now, he is established as a Junior Guru at ITCSRA, and has performed across some of the most prestigious festivals and venues in India and abroad. Omkar is known for his unique vocal style, a synthesis of his various streams of influence from his gurus, paired with expressive melodic and rhythmic elaborations. Mohan Bhide and Hriday Buddhdev will join on harmonium and tabla respectively.

This program is presented by the Indian Classical Music Society of Vancouver (ICMSV) and SoundLoom. If you are looking to sponsor this event please send us an email to [email protected]
