Intro to Indian Classical Music: Instruments of India
Five months of introductions. One night of conversation.
The conclusion of our Intro to Indian Classical Music series at the Fraserview branch, Instruments of India is a conversation that explores shared foundations and distinctive expressions across the subcontinent’s musical traditions. Curtis Andrews (mridangam), Mohan Bhide (harmonium), Sharanjeet Singh Mand (sitar), Sunny Matharu (tabla), and Shriram Rajagopalan (violin) come together for a special, debut ensemble performance.
Watch as these five artists demonstrate how instruments from different Indian classical traditions find common ground, creating spontaneous musical conversations that bridge North and South Indian styles.
This program is presented in partnership with Vancouver Public Library. This program is presented with generous funding from the Vancouver Foundation's LEVEL BIPOC Grant and is also generously supported by VPL Foundation donors.
