Bahauddin Dagar is a world master of the rudra veena, an ancient classical musical instrument of India. Since his debut in 1990, Bahauddin has become acclaimed for his highly responsive, contemplative playing style; prayerful and expansive sound; and commitment to exploring and advancing dhrupad through innovations in instrument construction and technique.
Immerse in subtle microtonal expression, powerful resonance, and improvised melodic and rhythmic virtuosity as Bahauddin Dagar goes between form and formless along with pakhavaj artist Tejas Tope.
Please note, the 4PM and 7PM concerts are two separate, but continuous concerts that are each 90 minutes long.
This program is co-presented by the Indian Classical Music Society of Vancouver (ICMSV), the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, and Early Music Vancouver.
