Sahabhāva is a Sanskrit word for coexistence, community, and coming together. Originally a virtual festival which was one of the first Indian classical music and dance events to occur globally during COVID-19, ICMSV continues the concept live with the same intention - to support artists in our community and experience a breadth of artistic disciplines.
This year’s fall edition of Sahabhāva features an exciting roster of talented artists from various dance and music traditions - Aishwarya Roshan (Bharatanatyam), Utkarsha Kale (Hindustani vocals), Saattvic (Tabla solo), Chetana Kaushik (Carnatic vocals), and Hriday Buddhdev (Sarod). Accompanying artists include Akaaljot Singh (Tabla), Shriram Rajagopalan (Violin), Keerthy Raghavan (Mridangam), Akhil Jobanputra (Harmonium), Hriday Buddhdev (Tabla).
Entry is by scaled contribution levels starting at $15 - giving you access to the entire evening! Proceeds will go towards our artists and sustaining the organization’s future endeavours, so please pay what you can. Final sale price includes the 2.9% + $0.30 fee which Square charges per transaction.
The Sanctuary at Vancouver Unitarians is located at the north-east corner of Oak Street and 49th Avenue, and is the building to the left. All areas are wheelchair accessible. The venue can accommodate up-to 200 people with plenty of padded chair and floor seating available. Bus routes 17 and 49 both have stops at 49th Ave and Oak Street. The nearest sky train station is at Cambie and 49th. A five-block walk or take the 49 bus. If walking, turn on Fremlin to enter from the East side. The parking lot has capacity for 49 cars including 2 designated accessibility/disability spots. There are 3 bike racks for a total of 24 bicycle spaces. Parking is also available along Oak Street.
This program is presented by the Indian Classical Music Society of Vancouver (ICMSV). We would like to thank our sponsors for supporting this event - Palak Dhiman Kathak Classes.
